The next concert will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, at the Eckstein Middle School auditorium, 3003 NE 75th Street.

WINTER SESSION:

The Ravenna Second String Orchestra will begin on Monday, Jan. 4, and continue through March 22. The Ravenna String Orchestra will rehearse Wednesdays, Jan. 6 through March 24. Both orchestras will have a short run through and then play an 8 p.m. concert on March 24. All rehearsals will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 pm at Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, 6535 Ravenna Ave. NE.

The Monday orchestra will perform “Allegro” from Mannheim Sinfonia #3 by Stamitz, Quiétude by Susan Day, Symphony #44 (last movement) by Haydn/Parrish, and Jive by Shirl Jae Atwell. The Wednesday orchestra will play Sonata a 4 by Johann Friedrich Fasch, Pavanne to a World Without War by Stanley Grill and Styres’ Rally by Alexander Safford.

SPRING SESSION:

The Ravenna Second String Orchestra will begin on Monday, April 5, and continue through June 7. The Ravenna String Orchestra will rehearse Wednesdays, April 7 through June 7. Both orchestras will have a short run through and then play an 8 p.m. concert on June 7. All rehearsals will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 pm at Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, 6535 Ravenna Ave. NE. The cost for either group will be $75. If you want to play in both orchestras there is a $25 additional fee for the second orchestra. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you want to apply for a tuition scholarship.

The Monday orchestra will perform Prelude and Fugue in D Minor by Bach/Leavitt, “The Enchanted Garden” from Mother Goose Suite by Ravel/Hopkins and “Allegro’ from Symphony #16 by Mozart/Dackow. The Wednesday orchestra will play Toccata in G Minor by Bach, “Allegro Moderato” from Divertimento for Strings by Jay Wilson and Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber.
